Travel agent “honoured” to make history on Air New Zealand’s revived Hobart-Auckland route

MTA-Mobile Travel Agents’ Gina Edwards was thrilled to be offered one of only 70 spots on Air New Zealand flight NZ198 from Hobart to Auckland last Thursday.

The flight was the airline’s first in a generation between the two cities, with the route being revived to coincide with the opening of the two-way trans-Tasman travel bubble.

“The Air New Zealand cabin crew were delighted to be flying from Australia again” said Edwards, who is based in Tasmania.

“I was honoured to be making a little bit of history. We were looked after so well during the flight and enjoyed the celebratory champagne on offer.”

During her action-packed, three-day stay in Auckland, Edwards enjoyed a wine-tasting day trip to Waiheke Island, a place she says she can’t wait to go back to; and a visit to the Auckland War Memorial Museum, where she witnessed Anzac Day preparations taking place.
