A man has died and another seriously injured after a four-wheel-drive rollover on Fraser Island off the Queensland coast.
Preliminary investigations indicate the vehicle was travelling along 75 Mile Beach at low tide when it lost control and rolled around 1.5 kilometres north of Eli Creek around 7am on Sunday.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 29-year-old NSW man Deklan Gilmartin, who was originally from the UK. Gilmartin was pronounced dead at the scene.
A rear passenger in the vehicle also suffered significant injuries and has been airlifted from the island for further medical treatment. Two additional passengers were treated on scene.
The three passengers of the vehicle are all Australian residents, and are also understood to be British nationals, according to ABC News.
Queensland Police’s Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.
