Tigerair launches new QLD flights

Yesterday, Tigerair Australia has kicked off new direct services between Brisbane and the Whitsunday Coast.

Tigerair will operate four weekly return services between Brisbane and the Whitsunday Coast, with the inaugural service between the two destinations departing Brisbane Airport at 7.30am and arriving into Whitsunday Coast Airport at 9.10am Thursday.

The new Brisbane-Whitsunday Coast services are being facilitated by an additional (third) A320 aircraft which is to be based in Brisbane, creating an additional 50 Brisbane based jobs (cabin crew/pilots/ground staff).

Tigerair Australia Head of Communications Vanessa Regan said, “The Sunshine State is an integral part of our network with over 50% of all Tigerair domestic services touching Queensland.

“The new services between Brisbane and the Whitsunday Coast add to this, delivering almost 80,000 additional visitor seats through both airports annually and providing a further welcome boost for Queensland tourism and the economy.”

Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Andrew Willcox said the additional flights and increased visitor seats will provide a significant boost for accommodation houses, tour and transport operators, restaurants and retail businesses in the region.

“It is certainly happy days in the Whitsundays so far in 2017 and the new direct morning return service from Brisbane is a massive vote of confidence in our region by Tigerair.”

To celebrate the new route launch, Tigerair has provided five families with a free overnight trip to Brisbane, including seats on the first Whitsunday Coast-Brisbane service, accommodation, transfers, and a day of sightseeing on the Gold Coast.

The families were chosen as part of a promotion, which called for the community to nominate a family who deserved a break. Video of the special trip will be available on the Tigerair Australia and Whitsunday Regional Council Facebook pages in the coming days.

Extra services on existing Queensland routes will also commence by the end of the month, including four additional weekly return services between Brisbane and Cairns, two additional return services between Sydney and Whitsunday Coast Airport and a weekly return service between Brisbane and Adelaide.

A special sale launching at 11am local Queensland time today will see fares on sale on the new route from just $49*. Jump online quick to avoid disappointment as these will be snapped up quick!
