As you’re probably aware, weed is legal in several US states, but not federally so you’ll still need to be careful and research your destination before you drop a baggie into your suitcase.

And no, this does not mean you can toke up at the airport.

According to CNN, LAX now allows passengers over 21 to enter the airport and pass through security with a permitted amount of the drug.

“The Los Angeles Airport Police Department will allow passengers to travel through LAX with up to 28.5 grams of marijuana and 8 grams of concentrated marijuana,” according to the LAX website.

“However, passengers should be aware that marijuana laws vary state by state and they are encouraged to check the laws of the states in which they plan to travel.”

CNN also points out planes are subject to federal law so you can still face fines or detention for possession, which, even if LA decides to let it go, you may miss your flight due to the hold-up.
