The Brando’s Eco-friendly Luxury
With the abundant natural beauty and stunning turquoise lagoon, it’s clear why the French Polynesian atoll Tetiaroa was home to Tahitian royalty and then later Hollywood celebrities.
The once private island was closed off to the general public but thanks to late Hollywood Star Marlon Brando, there is now a luxurious eco-friendly resort accessible to the public.
In 1962, Marlon Brando was scouting in Tahiti for the location of his film, “Mutiny on the Bounty.” He fell in love with the stunning lagoon protected by coral islets in Tetiaroa. He dreamed of owning the island and creating a sustainable ecological habitat. He died in 2004, but his dream was realised with the creation of “The Brando.”
The goal of the Brando Resort is to be the most luxurious and eco-friendly resort on the planet and it succeeds at being both.
Eco-Friendly
Marlon Brando refused to build on this island until he was positive that he could create a sustainable environment. As a result, The Brando has the highest environmental standards, aiming to be 100% energy independent. Electricity requirements are met by a combination of solar panels and generators fuelled by coconut oil, while innovative technology known as seawater air conditioning uses deep seawater to cool the rooms.
To protect the reef, guests fly in on The Brando’s private 8-person plane that leaves from Faa’a International Airport. The ride is just a short 20 minutes and guests are presented with an assortment of snacks and drinks.
Luxury
As soon as guests arrive, they are treated to the luxury that the Brando Resort offers. Guests are presented with a bottle of champagne and a bicycle per person when they arrive. When guests begin to explore their living area, they will be amazed by the incredible amount of privacy. Each Villa has its own secluded plunge pool and beach area with a private outdoor bath. The cosy villas are soft and comfortable with stunning views of the beach.
Activities
The different types of activities offered are endless and there is something everyone can enjoy. Those looking to spend time in the water will love paddle boarding, swimming at Mermaid Bay and snorkeling in the fabulous reef surrounding Tetiaroa. The spectacular coral beds provide the perfect place for marine life to flourish. Snorkelers will see beautiful tropical fish, rays, and sea turtles.
Guests can also play tennis, ride bicycles, or participate in deep sea fishing. Those looking to stay fit on their holiday will be thrilled with the ample amount of unique fitness classes like aquafitness. Guests who select the all-inclusive option get to participate in a free daily excursion per person.
Gourmet Restaurants
The resort features two restaurants showcasing East/West fusion and classic French cuisine. The Beachcomber café serves breakfast with exceptional views of the lagoon and ocean. Guests enjoy fresh fruit and pastries or Polynesian inspired dishes alongside class French cuisine.
The elegant Les Mutinés offers world class wine and a menu run by Michelin-star chef Guy Martin with delicious dishes like fresh sashimi and lamb cutlets.
Guests can also enjoy the bars on the resort or the 24-hour room service.
The Perfect Getaway
While most people come for a break from everyday life, those who need to stay connected will have the opportunity as The Brando offers one of the fastest internet connections in French Polynesia.
The Brando is the perfect luxurious and eco-friendly getaway. Guests can enjoy the pleasant privacy, dazzling nature, and splendid luxury all while supporting a sustainable environment.
Tahiti Travel Connection experienced the luxury first hand. Checkout their website for the details on their stay at The Brando.
