The Big Banana gets a delicious makeover

Here at Travel Weekly, we’re big believers in covering every edible thing in chocolate, so this Allen’s activation at the Big Banana has got our mouths watering.

Last week the iconic Big Banana in Coffs Harbour was covered in what the lolly makers described as a “chocolate-like syrup” to celebrate the launch of the new Allen’s Mini Chocolate Bananas.

We’ve been assured the lollies themself will be covered in real chocolate, none of this “chocolate-like” business.

For the first time in its history, the 13-metre-long and five-metre-high landmark got a makeover as the syrup was poured over the banana to mark the unveiling of its latest creation.

What could possibly make this activation stranger? The syrup was poured by a stuntman who climbed to the top of the banana. It took a total of 18 people, 13 buckets, two safety harnesses, and one daredevil 91 minutes to change the face of The Big Banana.

It’s not clear how or if they managed to get the syrup off but we are assuming it made for one sticky situation.
