The best bits of Chicago, plus win a secret getaway

Clayton Hauck for Choose Chicago / FCB

Brand USA are lovely folk, aren’t they – they’re giving you all the tools to sell A+ American destinations and giving one lucky agent a mystery getaway for two.

Brand USA’s training site covers a whole bunch of American regions and experiences to give agents the best and most comprehensive guides so they can sell to the best of their abilities. And, you know, make sweet commissions.

The online training comes with 37 badges in total, but that’s a big number, so for now why not just check in with the five newest ones. That’s also where the mystery adventure comes in.

Agents can snag themselves a two-night mystery getaway for two people, complete with flights, accommodation, transfers and destination info, just by completing the five new badges, which include:

  1. Alamo – which we covered recently and you can catch up on here.
  2. Wyoming
  3. Chicago (today’s hot feature!)
  4. Illinois
  5. Discover the Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel

Today we’re giving you the best tidbits of Chicago, a seriously hot contender for best destination of the year. Don’t believe us? Check out the below ‘best of’ guide, and get into the running to win.

The incentive is open now, with winners announced on October 6.

Chicago has a lot going on. When you look at the stats – all of which are big drawcards for travellers – you can see it has:

  • 580 parks
  • 26 beaches
  • 77 neighbourhood communities
  • 700 public art works
  • 200 theatre companies
  • 95 art galleries
  • 56 museums
  • 4,980 restaurants – what?!
  • 68 craft breweries – fun fact – Chicago is among the leading US cities for craft beer!
  • 225 music venues
  • 46 historic districts
  • 5 citywide music festivals

Phew! What a list – and that’s not even all of it!

They’ve also got events like contemporary and modern art event, EXPO CHGO in mid-September, and the Chicago Architecture Biennial, featuring a main exhibition and numerous off-site projects from September 2017 through to January 2018.

Chicago isn’t just a ‘go there once’ kind of town – you could visit every weekend and have a different, equally amazing experience.

But if you’ve only got a couple of days to hit the city’s most iconic sights, then here’s the ultimate checklist:
