New celeb dining opens in Sydney, but not on land

The Emerald City has put on a dramatic welcome for its first maiden cruise ship visit of the season, with Princess Cruises’ spectacular Emerald Princess greeted by a row of shooting green flames as she sailed into Sydney early this morning.

The 290-metre long Emerald Princess is the first ship to make an inaugural call to Australia this summer, with her visit heralding a record cruise season for Sydney and the nation.

Carrying 3082 guests, Emerald Princess is the largest of five Princess ships, which will be based in Australian waters over the summer. She will be home ported in Sydney until April 2017, making 13 round-trip cruises to New Zealand, the South Pacific and Tasmania.

The 113, 000-tonne superliner features more than 1500 guestrooms, including nearly 900 balcony staterooms, with every room offering the Princess Luxury Bed, designed to deliver the ultimate night sleep at sea. Also on board are eight showrooms and lounges, two nightclubs and four swimming pools, as well as the child-free Sanctuary, Movies under the Stars and the Lotus Spa.

Australians will enjoy a double serving of award-winning Chef Curtis Stone this summer, with his new restaurant SHARE now featured on two local Princess Cruises’ superliners. Aboard the Emerald Princess, the 125-seat restaurant will offer guests an exclusive world class dining experience, with stunning ocean views and a unique menu tailored specially for Australian palates. This will include fine dishes like lightly seared scallops with sesame and chickpea puree, lamb loin paired with harissa scented couscous, as well as an exclusive six-course degustation experience. Travel Weekly was lucky enough to enjoy some of the delicious delicious on offer. They emphasize local produce at each port to ensure the freshness and showcase the ingredients available.

The Emerald Princess will also feature the much-anticipated musical Magic to Do from Oscar and Tony award winning Broadway composer Stephen Schwartz, and the Voice of the Ocean international singing competition.
