Sydney Kings to face LA Clippers in Hawaii for NBA pre-season game

Hawaii will be welcoming the Sydney Kings and LA Clippers in an the NBA and NBL pre-season game at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu, Hawaii on September 30.

Sydney Kings star recruit, Andrew Bogut said, “I’m excited to have the opportunity to play for the Sydney Kings against the LA Clippers. This is also a great opportunity to showcase the NBL against some of the best players in the world at a time when the league and Australian and New Zealand basketball is thriving.”

Kings coach Andrew Gaze said, “We loved going to play in the NBA preseason last year and for five teams to now have that opportunity this year is another feather in the cap of the NBL. We can’t wait to take on the LA Clippers and I’m sure Australian and New Zealand basketball fans will be just as excited about these games.”

The game against the Clippers will be the culmination of an exciting pre-season of matches that the Sydney Kings are in the final stages of planning.

Sydney Kings GM of Basketball, Jeff Van Groningen said, “We have assembled such an exciting roster for the up-coming season. Andrew Gaze and I have been working through a pre-season schedule that will prepare our team for the NBL Championship and also provide fans across the country with the chance to see the team play.”

The NBA pre-season announcement is another indication of the growing credibility and interest that the NBL is attracting in Australia and around the World.

There were a record-tying eight Australian players on 2017-18 opening night NBA rosters this year, including NBA Rookie of Year, Ben Simmons, Joe Ingles, Dante Exum and our very own Andrew Bogut. Seven Australian players and one New Zealander were on team rosters for the 2018 NBA Playoffs.
