Ryanair slammed for promoting “cheap and cheerful” holidays in Kyiv

Budget Irish airline, Ryanair, has been slammed online for continuing to promote Kyiv city breaks online despite the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

One person took to Twitter and shared a screenshot of the carrier’s website showing the promo line ‘Kyiv on a budget.’

“Woke up, checked Ryanair’s cheap flights options, chose ‘budget breaks’, and saw ‘Kyiv on a budget,’ tweeted one person.

“Wtf @Ryanair? Please be more considerate of others’ suffering ffs.”

Ryanair’s guide to the Ukrainian capital describes the city as “cheap and cheerful” and “the ultimate destination for a city break.”

On the budget airline’s website article “11 cities as low cost as our flights” – Kyiv comes in the sixth position.

“Veer off the beaten track, escape the throngs of camera-flashing tourists and explore the undiscovered corners of Kiev/Kyiv,” reads the Ryanair guide.

“Go searching for secrets in the city’s many nooks and crannies and surprise yourself with eclectic street art, hidden courtyards and vibrant villages.”

Major airlines, including Ryanair, have suspended all flights to Ukraine following Russia’s invasion.

Russian forces left Kyiv earlier this month but large-scale devastation was left in their wake, with many mines and unexploded shells and bombs left behind.

It remains unclear when air travel can resume to Kyiv or Ukraine at all.
