REX’s new routes from Perth to Melbourne & Adelaide a winner, Flight Centre Corporate says
Edited by Travel Weekly

New Flight Centre Corporate data has revealed a significant uptake in REX flights as the low-cost carrier prepares to launch new routes from Perth to Melbourne and Adelaide.

Data shows a 68 per cent uptick in REX flights (financial year on financial year). It also shows travel between Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth increasing 80 per cent in the same period.

REX has two new routes ready for take-off from Friday 28 June, between Perth-Melbourne and Perth-Adelaide.

REX’s new Perth-Melbourne route will operate five days per week while REX will fly from Adelaide three days per week, with both schedules to take-off from 28 June.

FCM Travel general manager ANZ Renos Rologas said Perth was an essential hub for Australia’s important resources, construction and government services, in particular.

“The sectors travelling with REX is dominated by government, not-for-profit, mining, oil and gas, construction and services – these are all sectors that require frequent access to the regions to operate effectively,” he said. “With the cost of doing business at an all-time high, businesses are keeping an eye on every expense.

“We know that travel is non-discretionary, and therefore our travellers, and our travel experts, are focused on keeping corporates moving across the country, without adding unnecessary financial strain.

“Welcoming an additional carrier to these routes is very positive for Aussie businesses, giving them more variety and competitive pricing.

“The added competition and capacity will improve the cost of airfares, and REX is clearly a popular option for travellers, so it’s fantastic to see the airline continue to expand its services.”
