Research: Tax returns likely to cause big boost for agents

It’s that time of year again! As Aussies wait impatiently for their tax returns, new research has shown that agents can expect a nice little business boost to come their way.

A study by H&R Block has found that an average of 11 per cent of Australians spend their tax refund on travel each year.

That’s the fifth highest usage for Aussie tax refunds after savings (37 per cent), everyday expenditure (29 per cent), credit card debt (18 per cent) and the mortgage (15 per cent).

The firm also found that the average Australian tax return is a whopping $3,600.

Which could score you a pretty decent holiday, if you ask us, from weekend getaways, flights overseas, or even a cruise.

Susan Bonner, VP and Managing Director, Royal Caribbean Australia & NZ told Travel Weekly that now is the perfect time to book a summer cruise holiday. And the fact that tax returns are starting to roll in for many Aussies doesn’t hurt her case.

“Take advantage of your highly-anticipated tax return in conjunction with Royal Caribbean’s current half yearly sale which includes incredible savings of up to 40 per cent, and USD$100 to spend at sea,” said Bonner.

“A Royal cruise represents great value with delectable main dining, thrilling activities, world-class entertainment and contemporary accommodation included in the fare.”
