Pilot cracks most entertaining pre-flight speech

It’s the hilarious pre-flight safety announcement we need on every flight.

We have all been guilty at some point of not paying attention to the pre-flight safety demonstration, but if you were on this Flybe flight, it may have been hard not to pay attention after the pilot made a hilarious announcement.

“Welcome aboard, you’ll fly this service direct to the beautiful sunny island of Palma de Majorca,” the pilot started off saying.

This may have turned some heads, as passengers boarding the low-cost European carrier airbus were not flying to the summer hotspot, but were, in fact, flying to Exeter in England’s southwest.

“Oh, sorry, no, my fault, I’ve got the wrong day again. That’s tomorrow,” The pilot teased.

“This evening — wait for it, it is even more exciting — we are going to Exeter!”

“We’ve been looking at the maps, hopefully, we have got the map the right way around. We think we should head right after take off, ” The pilot joked.

“Luckily for you lot I’m not doing any more driving this evening. I’ve done my flying for the day — it wasn’t pretty so I’m going to refrain from that for the rest of the evening.”

Before handing over the speakerphone to his colleague, he continued, “I’m going to hand the reins over to the man himself, my colleague on the right-hand side…

He’s just been telling me actually on the way down that he hasn’t yet had a bad landing in his entire career so lots to look forward to.”

The Pilot’s banter continued to entertain the passengers as he started to take a dig at the cabin crew.

“At Flybe, we pride ourselves on employing some of the very finest cabin crew this industry has to offer. I’m sorry to say they are all on annual leave.”

A passenger on the flight, David-Joe Williams from North Devon in England was lucky enough to whip out his phone just in time and record the hilarious ordeal, posting the video on social media.

Mr Williams told DevonLive that it was the “best pilot announcement ever”.

“I think all announcements should be like that. It makes the pilot human and helps anyone on the flight who has had a bad day to feel better,” he said.

“It’s a perfect example of customer care and hospitality. It shows that the pilots and Flybe care.”
