Plane passenger slaps flight attendant after refusing to wear a mask

Two passengers were kicked off a Delta Air Lines flight last week when one of them allegedly slapped a flight attendant.

The incident took place on Delta flight 1997 from Miami to Atlanta on 20 October and was posted to Twitter by BBC journalist Suzanne Kianpour.

Kianpour posted a video credited to “@kingcoreythefirst on IG”, showing two passengers arguing with a flight attendant in the plane’s aisle when one seems to strike the flight attendant.

“She’s getting in her face, oh lord! Oh lord!” a passenger can be heard saying.

Here’s what happened on our @delta flight from #Miami to #Atlanta tonight after a passenger refused to wear a mask as per policy and then gets into altercation with flight attendant. Video via @kingcoreythefirst on IG,” Kianpour said in the Tweet.

Twitter user @daisyday814 responded to the Tweet claiming to be the flight attendant’s sister.

This flight attendant is my sister and she has still not been contacted by Delta! @Delta where’s your support for your crew members?” the user said.

“This is not a 1 time incident @delta. They have created this atmosphere and work environment by putting they’re political views out there which has put their crew members in danger every day!”

Delta said in a statement that is asked the passengers to deplane for not complying with crew safety instructions.

“We do not tolerate violence of any kind and this situation is currently under investigation. We apologize to customers for the flight delay this caused,” the airline said.

According to CNN, Delta CEO Ed Bastian told employees the airline has banned 460 people so far for refusing to comply with its mask requirement.
