Passenger punch-up breaks out on flight over alleged reclined seat

Reclining your seat during a flight is contentious at the best of times, but these two American Airlines passengers have taken the debate to a whole new level.

Police were called to meet an American Eagle flight operated by Republic Airways on Sunday and detained two men following a brawl that erupted on board the plane.

Witnesses told CBS Austin the flight was travelling to Austin from New Orleans when the two began verbally assaulting each other because one of their seats was stuck in the reclined position.

“When the plane finally landed in Austin and the seatbelt sign was turned off, both men jumped up and physically started fighting each other,” one witness said.

Video footage sent to local TV station KXAN shows the fight break out after a man wearing a black hat and face mask points his finger in a man wearing a white hat’s face.

When the man in the white face mask throws a punch at the other man, a third man wearing a striped t-shirt who is standing in between them retaliates, resulting in a full-blown fistfight between the men.

Passengers can be heard yelling at the three to stop as the fight sees the men pushed onto passengers seated nearby.

American Airlines confirmed to Travel Weekly that law enforcement was requested to meet flight 4698 due to an altercation between passengers.
