Norwegian returns to Australia

Norwegian returns to Australia

Norwegian Cruise Line will make its return to Asia and Australia for the 2016-17 winter season after a 15-year break.

Just over a month since the cruise line announced it was taking a bigger slice of the Aussie pie and opening sales and marketing offices in Sydney, the ships are lining up to follow.

The Miami-based cruise company announced its new office down under would represent its three brands: Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, with cruise-industry stalwart Steve Odell to head up operations as senior vice president and managing director Australasia from October 1.

The US company has announced new destinations in the Gulf and India for its Norwegian Star cruise ship.

The ship will travel from the Baltic Sea, starting in October 2016, through Istanbul to Dubai and then on to India.

In December 2016, the cruise ship travels to Southeast Asia and then on to Australia and New Zealand, starting in January 2017.

In March 2017, the Norwegian Star will start its way back to Europe in several stages before arriving in Venice.

The shipping company said the Norwegian Epic will stay in Europe for the northern summer of 2016 before heading to the United States in the autumn.

From Port Canaveral in Florida, Norwegian Cruise Line’s largest ship will make cruises around the Caribbean.

The Norwegian Spirit will return to Europe for the whole year and cruise the western and eastern parts of the Mediterranean Sea, based in Barcelona, Istanbul and Venice.

The Norwegian Jade will start from Tampa in the northern winter of 2016-17 for the Caribbean while the Norwegian Jewel will pass through the Panama Canal on two tours in January and February 2017 between Los Angeles and Miami.
