New invention allows plane passengers to filter their own farts

When travelling by plane, do you usually try to hold in any farts to avoid embarrassment and complaints from fellow passengers?

Well, thanks to a nifty new invention, you can let rip whenever you please without feeling guilty that those seated near you will suffer an odorous fate.

Launched late last month by Shreddies (a brand that specialises in flatulence-filtering garments), the ‘Carbonana’ is designed with air travel in mind and offers “discreet protection when you need it most”, according to the company.

Available in black or nude, the banana shape of the product is designed to sit between the buttocks and absorb gasses before they escape your underwear.

“Helping our customers avoid potential embarrassment clearing security scanners, the Carbonana can be placed in the hand luggage trays and worn once you’ve cleared security,” the company says.

However, the odour-reducing usefulness of the Carbonana is not limited to air travel, with cars, public transport and offices also perfect environments for you to fart to your heart’s content.

The Carbonana is available online in black or nude colour from £19 (just over $37).
