Midweek Interview with Sample Food Events’ Remy Tancred

This week’s Midweek Interview is with the delightful Remy Tancred, Director at Sample Food Events. She was also the Director of the first ever Byron Bay Fine Food & Beverage Festival, which was held at Elements of Byron on June 3.

The challenge for the industry is…

Really the only challenge I have is the weather! My events are all outdoors and rely on mother nature to be kind to us

The things I like about my job…

That every event is different, I meet new and exciting food businesses, farmers and producers all the time. They all have a story

And the frustrations are …

Last minute changes can certainly be stressful at times…

If I didn’t work in travel I would be…

Probably teaching Tourism at Uni or TAFE

Favourite airline?

Virgin

My proudest moment was…

Probably the very first event I ever did…. A long time ago now

The naughtiest thing I ever did was…

Lied about my age and experience to get the job!

I try to relax by…

Watching my kids play sport or girls long weekend away

The last time I feared for my life was…

When I ran over a snake and was petified it was caught up under my car, I sat in the car for 30 mins and then drove back and saw it dead on the road.

If I can, I always try to avoid…

Drinking wine on Monday’s

I really wish I had…

More hours in the day!

The best advice I’ve ever received was…

Positive things happen to positive people

I don’t understand why people…

Don’t share or help others in the industry, we are all in this together.

My greatest weakness is…

Red wine and cheese

And my greatest strength is…

Organised

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would…

Share it with those who need it

If I was prime minister I would…

Allocated more funding to Cultural Events

If I could be someone else for one day I would be…

My mum

I’ve always wanted to travel to…

New York

My favourite holiday was…

Whistler and Africa… hard to choose.
