Miami is the world’s most well-travelled dog

A chihuahua named Miami is turning heads all over the world, as his parents document his unusual dog adventures in multiple countries on Instagram.

And if this doesn’t sound like the best story to read on a Wednesday, and probably even this week, then we aren’t sure what is.

The tiny Italian dog, known as ‘Miami Traveller Dog’, has so far visited 15 states in the US and six European countries, in his five years of life.

Miami was adopted by Marianna Chiaraluce and her husband when he was seven months old after he was deemed unsuitable for canine competitions because of a minor health issue.

According to Lonely Planet, some of Miami’s travel highlights include visiting Marilyn Monroe’s grave in Los Angeles, visiting the cotton fields near New Orleans where the movie Django Unchained was filmed, and taking a three-month road-trip from Chicago to Los Angeles.

Chiaraluce told Lonely Planet that Miami often gets recognised by fans whenever he is travelling.

“When Miami had less than 1000 followers, a girl recognised him in front of the Louvre and she started screaming, ‘Is that Miami Traveller Dog?’” she said.

“It was so funny and my husband and I still can’t believe it.”

His Instagram account now has 9.7k followers, and he even receives ‘fan mail’ from his followers all over the world.

“I like to think his posts make people smile and also discover unusual places,” Chiaraluce added.

“I am so happy about that.”
