KISS teams up with Airbnb to perform very odd concert for Aussie sharks… but none bother to show up

US rock band KISS has performed a unique concert on a boat south of Port Lincoln in South Australia.

Just 80 guests were also in attendance to see the ‘Shark Rock City’ show, which saw Gene Simmons, Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer rock out on the boat to promote Airbnb’s new Experiences offering.

The tour company responsible, Adventure Bay Charters, usually heads out shark-cage diving every day and attracts the apex predators by playing rock music (not live) underwater.

So, when Airbnb wanted to promote the experience, it thought using an actual live band would be better than just playing a recording. You can check out the listing on Airbnb here.

And although KISS cancelled the Australian leg of their farewell tour due to lead singer Paul Stanley falling ill, the iconic US band decided to honour their commitment to Airbnb and the sharks minus their frontman.

However, while the low-frequency sounds of KISS were supposed to lure sharks towards the boat, unfortunately no great whites showed up.
