Former cruise line boss joins Coral Expeditions

Coral Expeditions has confirmed that Azamara’s former chief for the UK and Ireland, Richard Twynam, has joined the Aussie cruise line as a non-executive director.

Travel Weekly understands Twynam had been working closely with the National Roads and Motorists’ Association (NRMA) on nutting out the recent investment deal with Coral Expeditions.

“Delighted to have worked on this project and thrilled to have been appointed a non-exec director on the Coral Expeditions board,” he tweeted.

“Exciting times ahead for both of these brands.”

Twynam was formerly Azamara’s managing director for the UK and Ireland, a role he held for more than six-and-a-half years before exiting in April 2020.

He has also previously worked in senior sales positions at Air New Zealand and Cathay Pacific Airways, as well as a consultant for Riviera Travel River Cruises and Kuoni Travel.

Twynam will take one of the places on the newly formed Coral Expeditions board, which is yet to have its first meeting.
