“F**king idiots!”: Bystander ridicules tourists toppled by waves in Iceland

A group of tourists have been floored and swept away by waves at Iceland’s Reynisfjara Beach.

Shocking footage of the moment the tourists were toppled has emerged online, coupled with some sweary commentary from a bystander.

Watch the chaos unfold below:

The footage was filmed and posted to Storyful by tour guide Thorolfur Sævar Sæmundsson. However, it’s unclear whether he is the person speaking during the recording.

Reynisfjara Beach is reportedly known for a dangerous undertow and so-called ‘sneaker waves’, which can catch people by surprise, with several tourists dying over the past decade or so at the beach, according to the Iceland Monitor.

Whenever Sæmundsson brings a group to Reynisfjara Beach, he warns them not to go down to the shoreline.

While the beach is safe “95 per cent of the time,” Sæmundsson told Storyful, “sometimes we have high waves. People need to be careful.”

Icelandic news site Visir reported that emergency services were called to the scene to assess one of the tourists who was knocked over and injured.
