A fatal vehicle accident last Thursday has claimed the life of a 23-year old woman while on a Contiki tour in South Lombok, Indonesia.

The woman was also an employee at Contiki’s Auckland office, but was on holidays while on the trip.

Five others, including two New Zealanders were injured on the trip, and have been receiving treatment in hospital.

“It is our understanding that their injuries are not life-threatening,” according to a Contiki statement released over the weekend.

“Senior company representatives have travelled to Indonesia and are supporting those in hospital to ensure they are receiving the best possible treatment.  They are also providing support to the other clients on the tour.”

“Our colleagues in New Zealand are doing everything possible to support families, directly affected clients and our people during this difficult time. This includes having spoken with and providing assistance to our colleague’s parents as well as the parents of the two New Zealanders who were injured in the crash,” Contiki stated.
