Event promoters scour Brisbane for hotel bed big enough for Shaquille O’Neal

One of the greatest basketballers of all time – who happens to be more than seven feet tall – is heading Down Under, but will reportedly need a bigger bed at his Brisbane hotel.

NBA All-Star Shaquille “Shaq” O’Neal is coming to Australia in June 2020, in a visit coinciding with the NBA Finals, marking his first visit to the country in over 20 years.

But according to reports, O’Neal will need to find a bed big enough to sleep in before he checks into his hotel in Brisbane, on the final leg of a three-city speaking tour.

The basketball superstar is around 216 centimetres tall, reportedly weighs more than 140 kilograms and wears size 22 shoes.

Local promoters in Brisbane are reportedly scouring the city to find a bed manufacturer that can build one big enough for the basketball legend ahead of his visit to the River City.

O’Neal’s highly anticipated return to Australia will feature Q&A sessions and seminars in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

He is considered among the greatest basketballers in NBA history, having won four national championships in his 19-year career, and been awarded 15 times as an NBA All-Star and MVP in three NBA Finals.

Now a regular commentator on the game that made him famous, Shaq will speak on his tips for success and offer unplugged and uncensored conversations about his life, touching on unspoken moments throughout his career on and off the court.

The 2020 tour will visit the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre and Sydney’s Star Events Centre throughout June.
