Ecotourism Australia certifies Pretty Beach House & Bells at Killcare
Edited by Travel Weekly

Pretty Beach House and Bells at Killcare, two properties owned by husband-and-wife duo Karina and Brian Barry – among others – have both been certified by Eco Tourism Australia.

The certification recons both property’s unwavering commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism, ensuring an eco-friendly experience for guests.

Since 2007, Bells at Killcare (once owned by adman John Singleton) has prioritised sustainability by growing its own produce. Both offerings focus on local produce and using Closed Loop Organics Composter to turn food waste into nutrient-rich soil in just 24 hours.

Management said they are thrilled to showcase their commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism.

“Certification assures our guests that our business is backed by a strong, well-managed commitment to sustainable practices,” they posted. “Since opening, we have focused on building on our sustainability processes.

“We are dedicated to growing as much of our own produce as possible and sourcing as much local produce as we can, to ensure quality and seasonality are achieved.

“More than 15 per cent of the items on our menus come straight from our property’s onsite kitchen garden.”

Management also thanked ‘Impact Sustainability’ who support business to create, deliver and remain in control of their sustainability strategy.
