Drumroll… Australia’s best hotels revealed

From the country’s best club sandwich to best pool and bar, the winners of the Gourmet Traveller Hotel Guide will have you flying domestic instead of international.

Perth newcomer The Treasury is Como Hotels first foray into the Australian market and it took out two top gongs for Hotel of the Year and New Hotel of the Year.

Halcyon House, the glamorous beachside property in New South Wales, won the award for the Regional Hotel of the Year.

“No fewer than 11 of our top 50 hotels are new entries for 2016,” Gourmet Traveller editor Anthea Loucas Bosha said.

“It’s so gratifying to see, three years after launching our guide, that Australia’s hotel industry is experiencing such a resurgence,” Bosha said.

The awards were decided by anonymous judges staying at all the hotels.

So, who won best minibar and best club sandwich? Seems you can experience both winning entries at QT Sydney.

The best bar is Hotel Palisade in Sydney and boutique hotel of the year is The Old Clare Hotel.
