Downtown LA and Santa Monica now railed

Transport time can be a letdown when travelling in the Los Angeles, but with Santa Monica’s new Expo Light Rail visitors can travel to major local and regional destinations in just 50 minutes.

From May 20 this year, downtown Santa Monica will be connected to greater Los Angeles by rail for the first time in over 50 years, giving residents, employees, students and tourists the ease of exploring more locations around the sunny Californian city.

Stretching 25 kilometers, the extension will provide 7 new stations serving popular destinations along the Westside.

The Santa Monica station will also house a maintenance facility, a bike path, and approximately five kilometers of track way. Each station on the line will feature original works of art that will help create a unique identity for the station, and enhance the passenger experience.

The extension of the Expo Light Rail will deliver more reliable public transportation, with the ridership estimated to reach 64,000 daily riders by the year 2030.
