Cunard reports biggest booking day in a decade

Luxury cruise line Cunard has reported that the first day of bookings for its new ship Queen Anne has proved the busiest booking day in a decade.

The maiden voyage, a seven-night sailing from Southampton departing 4 January 2024, has sold out and demand for Grill Suites proved especially strong across each of the 10 published new voyages.

Cunard’s commercial director Australia and New Zealand, Katrina McAlpine said on the massive influx of bookings: “Within the first couple of hours after opening bookings for Queen Anne at 10pm on Tuesday night, we saw an incredible number of Australian and New Zealand guests securing their place for our fourth ship’s maiden season – despite the time of night this went on sale.

“Australia is the third biggest booking market for Queen Anne, and this demonstrates the continuing appeal for cruising in Australia and further cements the importance of our industry in the lead up to welcoming ships back to our local waters at the end of this month.

“A very special thanks goes out to our dedicated trade partners for staying up late to ensure their clients’ cabins.”

The three busiest booking periods for Cunard in the last decade have now happened since March 2021, with the launch of the UK sailings as the brand returned to service, the launch of the summer 2023 program and now the launch of Queen Anne’s maiden program.
