Club Med vows to “defy industry trend” by refusing to lower agent commission

Club Med has revealed it will not reduce travel agent commission, especially its 5 per cent bump on airline tickets booked as part of a package.

Club Med’s general manager of the Pacific, Michelle Davies

The inclusive resort pioneer said it was bucking an “industry trend” towards depleting airfare commissions.

Club Med currently offers a 5 per cent commission for agents on international full services airline bookings and 2 per cent for low-cost carriers.

Michelle Davies, Club Med’s general manager of the Pacific said the decision to not change its commission structure post-pandemic ladders back to the brands main recovery strategy which is finding ways to support its travel partners.

“Saying the past two years has been tough for the entire travel industry is a huge understatement, and while every business is doing its best to recover, we believe in order to thrive post-pandemic [we need to] to support our valued agent partners,”  Davies said.
