Booking.com reveals Australia’s most sought-after hotspots for domestic travellers

New data from Booking.com has revealed which domestic destination Aussie travellers are planning to visit on their next trip, and which destinations most need their help.

Data pulled from the online travel giant found the Gold Coast to be the most searched destination in June, followed by Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Canberra.

In terms of non-metro destinations, Byron Bay topped the list, followed by Jindabyne, Newcastle, Airlie Beach, and Noosa Heads.

The data also revealed that some of the hardest-hit towns are among some of the top 100 destinations searched on the platform.

NSW locations such as Batemans Bay, Kiama, Merimbula, Mollymook, Katoomba, Kangaroo Valley,  Forster, Port Macquarie, Nelson Bay, and Coffs Harbour have all been in the top trending destinations. Cities close to affected areas include Canberra and Adelaide, both of which were in the top 10 most searched.

If your clients are looking to support tourism in these local communities, Booking.com has also pulled together a round-up of the key places to stay ahead of the school holidays:
