Leading tour group company Walk Japan, pioneers of guided walking expeditions across the unique landscape of Japan together with Japan Travel Company, has partnered with the country’s Oita Prefecture to launch the new English version of www.discover-oita.com.
The collaboration is set to encourage travellers to visit this relatively undiscovered part of Japan, with fascinating destinations such as Kunisaki, where Walk Japan is based, a picturesque and verdant peninsula that is a haven of rural life that today belies its history as one of the greatest centres of Buddhism in Japan; Beppu, which has been a seaside resort destination for centuries and boasts more onsen hot springs than anywhere else in Japan as well as a vibrant and thriving cuisine, arts, crafts and music scene; Yufuin is a refined, onsen hot spring town in a spectacular rural setting towered over by Mt. Yufu-dake, an extinct volcano, and here the idyllic paddy fields surrounding and the town’s traditional and elegant architecture is as intriguing as the famous hot springs which include some of the finest in the country.
This engaging, functional and easy to navigate website has been put together by Walk Japan in collaboration with Oita Prefecture to promote the beauty, destinations and unique culture of the region to visiting English-speaking travellers. Additionally, the website provides insider knowledge on what’s on in the area, and how to best plan your visit.
