Virgin Atlantic heats up Hong Kong
The Virgin Atlantic 787 Dreamliner took to the skies above Hong Kong on July 6, bringing design and fresh customer experience to the London Heathrow – Hong Kong route.
Virgin Atlantic was the first European carrier to take the larger Boeing 787-9 version of the Dreamliner. The aircraft is configured with 31 Upper Class, 35 Premium Economy and 198 Economy seats.
Upper Class passengers will enjoy a new iteration of Virgin Atlantic’s iconic ‘Upper Class Suite’ while a refreshed Premium Economy cabin offers more comfortable seat design and a social space where customers can stretch their legs and mingle.
World Journeys migrates
World Journeys advises that it’s not too late for last minute bookings to the Masai Mara, where the annual Great Migration of massive herds of plains game is about to take place centre stage.

Air Tahiti embraces its inner child
Air Tahiti Nui is winding back the clock and lightening the load on the wallet, offering adult fares at children’s prices.
On sale from Monday, July 20 2015, adults can fly return in economy class from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane to Tahiti via Auckland from just $1109 – the cost of a child fare.
South Africa gets a new safari lodge
Sanctuary Retreats’ Makanyane Safari Lodge in South Africa has been added to its portfolio of luxury camps and lodges.
From August 1 this exclusive lodge, situated in the Madikwe Game Reserve, joins the Sanctuary Retreats portfolio of 16 boutique safari camps and lodges across Africa.
Activities on offer include morning and night game drives, guided walks, birding expeditions, bush dinners and sundowners.
Guests also have the option of sleeping under the stars surrounded only by the African wilderness at the lodge’s raised ‘Star View Sleep-Out Hide’.
China Southern ups services
China Southern Airlines (CZ) has announced it will soon begin increasing flight schedules, following an increase in demand in four Australian capital cities. See the new schedules below:
- PER-CAN-PER service will increase from 3 flights per week to 4 flights per week from 16 July 2015 to 26 October 2015
- MEL-CAN-MEL service will increase from 10 flights per week to 14 flights per week from 13 September 2015 to 5 December 2015
- SYD-CAN-SYD service will increase from double daily to triple daily with an additional morning service CZ601/602 from 11 December 2015 to 27 March 2016.
- MEL-CAN-MEL service will increase from 14 flights per week to 18 flights per week with an additional morning service CZ610 from 6 December 2015 to 1 March 2016.
- BNE-CAN-BNE service will increase from 5 flights per week to daily from 26 October 2015 to 26 March 2016.
- PER-CAN-PER service will increase from 4 flights per week to 5 flights per week from 25 October 2015 to 21 March 2016
Wendy Wu’s early bird gets the worm
Wendy Wu Tours Early Bird brochures is now featuring almost double the amount of Early Bird specials on a selection of 2016 group tours across China, Vietnam, India, Japan, Cambodia, Laos, Central Asia, Myanmar, Tibet and Nepal.
The expanded Early Bird Brochures include a dedicated Western Australian version, offering the west coast the benefits of booking early to secure significant savings.
Both brochures feature a selection of WWT’s most popular fully-inclusive group with savings of up to $1355 per person on some departures from January until July 2016, while more reductions are on offer for new bookings when booked and deposited between July 18 and September 18.
Massive savings are landing on tours like the 18-day Vietnam Panorama, 21- day Magnificent China tour and 17-day Hidden Treasures of Myanmar tour.
Coral expands to Tassie
Coral Expeditions will expand its expedition cruise program to Tasmania this summer, becoming the first cruise ship to sail some of the remote coastlines of the island state.
The first of 16 departures embarks November 16 2015 and the season will run until February 2016.
A highlight of the seven night itinerary from Hobart will be two days exploring the pristine Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area at Port Davey and Bathurst Harbour with Coral Expeditions’ Parks and Wildlife Ranger.
