Grand opening for the impeccably designed SALA Samui Chaweng Beach Resort
SALA Samui Chaweng Beach opens this week with the General Manager, Erwin van der Veen revealing the inspirations behind the resort’s interior design scheme.
SALA Samui Chaweng Beach Resort was conceived by Thailand-based architectural and interior design firm Onion and draws references from Koh Samui and neighbouring Koh Phangan’s world-renowned Full Moon, Half Moon, and Black Moon celebrations.
The resort will open in two phases starting with the Oceanfront Wing where the designers drew heavily on the energy of a full moon, inspired by the 120 metres of beach frontage, as well as facilities and guest rooms designed to take in the ocean views. The circular shape of the full moon is incorporated into various design elements, from the architectural façade with touches deliberately placed to cast circular shadows, to the swimming pool, aptly named the Moon Pool, which references the lunar muse.
