Big Fat Father’s Day Wrap
Left your Father’s Day shopping to the last minute? Forgo the socks this year and give dad a gift he won’t soon forget.
Treat Dad this Father’s Day and Save!
Show your appreciation to the special father figure in your life with great food aboard Captain Cook Cruises. Join us this Father’s Day, 2nd September 2018 on the Buffet Lunch cruise, Long Lunch cruise or Shark Island Picnic on beautiful Sydney Harbour. As an extra gift to dad, children can cruise from only $10 on selected cruises.
Dad can enjoy million-dollar harbour views and live commentary while feasting on a delicious hot and cold buffet selection on the Father’s Day Buffet Lunch cruise. The buffet includes oysters, prawns, mussels, smoked salmon, fish, a variety of non-seafood and vegetarian dishes and salads, desserts, cheeses and tea and coffee.
The Father’s Day Buffet Lunch Cruise is $89 per adult and one child cruises for $10 with every full priced adult, normally $59 per child. The cruise departs from King Street Wharf 1 at 12pm, returning at 1.45pm or from Circular Quay Wharf 6 at 12.30pm, returning at 2.15pm.
Forget the socks and treat Dad to the ultimate feed this Father’s Day
Dad jokes… they’re cringe-worthy but they are also one of the many reasons we love our dads. With Father’s Day fast approaching on Sunday 2nd September, OpenTable has rounded up some of the best locations around Australia to spoil your old man on his special day.
+++
Lox Stock and Barrel – Sydney, NSW
Regardless of whether your dad is a breakfast, lunch, or dinner kind of guy, Lox Stock and Barrel has you covered, serving delicious food all day that’s guaranteed to satisfy his appetite. This modern restaurant offers a taste of pre-war Europe, blending Jewish culture with quality locally sourced produce. Lox Stock and Barrel is fit for foodies with great vegetarian options and innovative creations, such as the slow-roasted eggplant or their tantalising heirloom carrots.
Ichi Ni Izakaya – Melbourne, VIC
Instead of taking dad to the usual pub around the corner, switch it up this year and try Ichi Ni Izakaya for an authentic, delicious Japanese dining experience! No fear; there is also an extensive beverage menu so dad can still indulge in his favourite craft beers. Located in St Kilda, aim to dine at sundown to take in the beautiful views at dusk.
The Charming Squire Restaurant – Brisbane, QLD
If enjoying a cold beer is on the top of the list this Father’s Day, then there’s no better place in Brisbane to treat your dad than The Charming Squire Restaurant. With a restaurant, bar and brewer’s pantry menu located in one place, you and your family will be spoilt for choice with options like gourmet pizza, salads, steaks and fish.
Meze Mazi – Adelaide, SA
‘Mazi’ means ‘together’ in Greek, and there’s nothing a proud dad would enjoy more than seeing his family come together for a delicious Greek feast. Meze Mazi is all about authenticity, with dishes derived from old family recipes and native Greek chefs crafting every dish with the same love and passion they would do for their own families.
Heno & Rey – Perth, WA
Treat dad to the best Perth has to offer this Father’s Day. Heno & Rey are passionate about using fresh, Western Australian produce to create Spanish inspired flavours. Order your dad a tasty jug of Sangria, or immerse yourselves in the wide selection of craft beers and Western Australian wines.
Father’s Day Trip-Spiration Through Australia
Northern Territory
Get Dad out of his work gear and back into his trusty knee length cargo pants as you lock in your outback adventure through the Northern Territory on Inspiring Journeys’ 10 day The Ultimate Territory Adventure in Style. Dad will be able to brag to all his mates about that one time he embarked on a cross country 4WD adventure through Litchfield National Park, hiked Kakadu National Park and stayed up to see the sunrise over Kata Tjuta (The Olga’s) and Uluru (Ayers Rock). Just make sure you’re the one in charge of the camera so you get some good snaps of your time away.
Victoria
Does your dad have those classic glory days stories where he and his mates would race the black diamond trials and carve up the slopes? Well the Australian ski season isn’t over yet and AAT King’s Mt Buller Ski Adventure is on hand to provide him with 300 hectares of skiable terrain and more than 80 KMs of groomed trails so that he can finally back up these infamous stories. If that’s not enough – there are also ski jumps, a snowboard park, a half pipe and an ultra-cross course for the more adventurous dads. Accompanied by panoramic views and a fantastic selection of restaurants, cafés and bars, Mt Buller aka Australia’s favourite winter playground, can even entertain the dads who just can’t ski like they used to anymore.
Cairns
On the other end of the spectrum if dad’s looking for any excuse to escape the cool weather, look no further than lovely warm Cairns. Averaging a beautiful 28 degrees daily and home to AAT Kings Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures day tour, a perfect winter weekend getaway. Cruise the Melaleuca wetlands to beat the heat but don’t dangle your toes in the water as this is the domain of the saltwater crocodile. Get up close and personal with these awe-inspiring creatures at the Crocodile Attack Show in Hartley before dad gets the opportunity to hold one and get a photo that’ll go straight to the pool room!
Melbourne
For the more cosmopolitan fathers, Inspiring Journeys Victoria’s Hidden Gem’s guided holiday is a winner. Snap your dad a new profile picture during an escapade through the vibrant laneways, walkways & arcades of Melbourne CBD. Treat dad to the best Melbourne has to offer with an indulgent mineral bath at the historic Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa and dinner at award-winning restaurants and vineyards such as The Argus and Jack Rabbit Vineyard. You’ll just need to keep the itinerary under wraps so mum doesn’t nab your spot.
South Australia
A father who enjoys a nice glass of red at the end of a long day and the occasional cheese platter will be over the moon with AAT Kings Barossa Food & Wine Experience. Treat dad to some of the finest wines and gourmet food that South Australia’s premium vineyard region has to offer as you visit three cellar doors; TeAro Estate, Lambert Estate and the multi award-winning Pindarie Cellar Door. This trip also stops in at Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop, a real delight for all – especially MasterChef aficionados!
Who’s a good boy?! OpenTable shares its top picks for fur-friendly dining experiences to treat man’s best friend this Father’s Day
Sydney
The Grounds of Alexandria Café
One of Sydney’s most popular and well-loved cafés, The Grounds of Alexandria offers a wide range of delicious, seasonally-driven menu items, and some of the finest coffee and daily baked goods in the city. Fear not, the Grounds doesn’t just save all its glory for humans; furry friends are welcome too. With three different pet-friendly areas, your pup will be spoilt for choice.
Make sure to visit one of Sydney’s hottest spots, The London in Paddington. The London is the perfect local hangout, offering a modern take on the traditional pub classics. As if it wasn’t already the perfect pub location, pets are also welcome at The London, so be sure to bring along your pup for a well-deserved afternoon outing of pooch-watching and pub grub.
The Sheaf offers one of the best dining experiences you can find in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. You and your pooch can enjoy the newly renovated Garden Bar, taking in the live music that’s on almost every night of the week, whilst munching down some delicious pub snacks. You’ll quickly find that there’s something for everyone (including furry friends) at The Sheaf.
Melbourne
Jardin Tan is a relaxed French Vietnamese eatery located in the heart of Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens. Enjoy the best of locally sourced ingredients from their very own kitchen garden, ensuring the freshest produce you could imagine. There’s no need to leave your furry friend behind when dining at Jardin Tan, since all dogs are welcome in the outdoor dining areas. Say goodbye to those puppy dog eyes and hello to big smiles!
Sit back and watch the sun set over St Kilda beach at Republica – the perfect location for an afternoon drink after the beach or a romantic sunset dinner. Treat yourself to the extensive wine and cocktail list as you take in the breathtaking views and be sure to bring along your dog to make your experience extra special, as they’ll be in paradise lapping up the outdoors, and frolicking in the sand with other furry friends.
Café Marcella is a stand out in the great tradition of Italian food in the Melbourne CBD. They bring a passion for the cooking from their ancestral homeland, and combine it with the local tastes for artisanal products to create something new and fresh that your four-legged friend will no doubt beg for. Since the venue is pet-friendly in its outdoor area only, be sure to bring a pair of sunnies and indulge in one of the best pizzas in the city Melbourne style!
