Baby on board … mid-flight birth on Cebu Pacific

????????????????????????????????????

A passenger on a Cebu Pacific flight from Dubai to Manila disembarked with a little extra luggage then when she started, giving birth in flight.

Baby girl ‘Haven’ was born approximately four hours after the departure of flight 5J015 from the Dubai International Airport last Sunday.

Cebu Pacific cabin crew were assisted by two registered nurses who were also passengers on the flight.

The flight diverted to Hyderabad, India, to ensure the both mother and baby, who was born premature at 32 weeks, received medical assistance.

The airline is celebrating as it is the first time a baby has been delivered onboard a CEB aircraft.

CEB president and CEO, Lance Gokongwei said “We are happy that both mother and daughter are doing well, and would like to commend our flight and cabin crew for handling the situation with utmost professionalism and efficiency. We also express our sincerest gratitude to the two volunteer nurses who helped ensure the baby’s safe delivery.”

Looks like Haven has just had a taste of the future life of a jetsetter, after the airline awarded Baby Haven one million GetGo points, which she can use to fly with for free. The points have no expiry, and may be shared with her family.
