Baby Born on board Turkish Airlines flight

Cabin Crew and passengers were in for an eventful trip aboard Turkish Airlines flight from Conakry to Ouagadougou, when flight attendants made a special mid-air delivery.

No we are not talking about an extra packet of salted peanuts added to passengers’ lunch trays as a bonus, but in fact, the delivery of a little baby girl!

When Nafi Diaby, a 28-week pregnant passenger began to experience painful contractions after takeoff, flight attendants were quick to act on the situation. There was no turning the plane around now, so they prepared to assist Diaby with the birth mid flight.

With the help from several passengers and cabin crew, baby Kadiju was delivered at 42,000 feet in the air.

Shortly after, Turkish airlines announced the birth on Twitter and also acknowledged the help received from cabin crew.

Yahoo7 report that Diaby and Kadiju were taken to hospital once the plane landed, with both recovering well.

Mid flight births are extremely rare with airlines having policies that restrict pregnant women from flying once they reach a certain amount of weeks. Women who are 36 weeks pregnant cannot fly with Turkish Airlines, but like in Diaby’s case, it is always responsible to prepare for an early arrival!
