Austrian Airlines adds Hong Kong

Austrian Airlines adds Hong Kong

From 5 September 2016, Austrian Airlines will fly five times weekly to Hong Kong on a Boeing 777.

Adding to the existing Chinese cities Shanghai and Beijing, the added route means the airline will fly up to 31 times per week to Asia in the summer of 2016.

“As of September, we are offering flights to the three largest cities in China i.e. Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong,” Austrian Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Andreas Otto said.

Hong Kong is not only interesting as a point to point destination but in particular for transfer traffic. About two-thirds of the passengers will change flights at the Vienna flight hub, especially in the direction of Western and Eastern Europe.

Flight time to Hong Kong at a distance of 8,700 kilometers from Vienna is about 11 hours 25 minutes.

Flights will depart Vienna at 1pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and arrive in Hong Kong at 6:25am the following day.

Return flights depart Hong Kong at 9:40am on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, arriving in Vienna at 4:10pm.
