Australia’s most amazing state is…

Experience Oz recently took out an international poll completed by thousands of travellers to discover which state or territory is considered the ‘most amazing’, with Queensland outshining the rest of the country.

The sunshine state took out the top spot beating the likes of Western Australia who placed second and Tasmania in third. The decision was based on how many must-do experiences are in the state, why it’s considered unique to Australia, if it’s the most beautiful, and if you would take international visitors there to show off Australia.

Experience Oz Marketing Manager Matt Hobbs said, “the key focus was to showcase all of the diverse and enjoyable things to do across Australia with hope it will encourage readers to plan a trip interstate instead of overseas, and to draw more international visitors to the country.”

After 5000 votes were gathered from the likes of Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, the US and UK, the decision was made and it’s clear to see why. Queensland’s reputation prevailed, with the world famous Great Barrier Reef, the iconic Gold Coast theme parks and impeccable warm weather all attributing to the state’s victory.

Experience Oz sells a range of experiences around Australia but sales figures can’t give enough insight into what travellers want and what they think about Australia, which is why the poll was created.

“Our main aim for this campaign was to gauge the general view of the public on which state is faring best as a ‘dream travel spot’ if concerns such as price were not a factor,” Hobbs said.

The results proved interesting, with popular tourist hubs of the Northern Territory in fourth, New South Wales in fifth, Victoria in sixth and South Australia in seventh. It goes to show that Melbourne’s status as the world’s friendliest city and Aussie icons Uluru and Sydney Opera House aren’t ranked highly for travellers.

Instead, it’s the relaxing lifestyle of Queensland that is considered the dream. Think sunny days year round, crystal clear waters, vibrant reefs and a range of experiences including cruising the Great Barrier Reef to heading inland to explore Outback Queensland. Offering something for almost everyone, it’s relatively easy to see how and why the northeast state beat out the competition.
