APT adds new ships for 2016

River cruise specialist APT is lifting its fleet size from 15 to 17 with the introduction of two new vessels, the MS AmaStella and the MS AmaViola.

The two Concerto class river ships, slated for early 2016 launches, both feature twin balconies and can accommodate 158 passengers in 79 suites. The vessels each have a crew of 50 and facilities include a pool, chef’s table restaurant and gym. The two ships will operate on APT’s Magnificent Europe itineraries, which sail between Amsterdam and Budapest.

Also new for the company in 2016 are river cruise options in the French region of Bordeaux and rail journeys aboard a privately chartered train, The Danube Express. The rail itineraries are designed to dovetail with cruise elements. The operator is also releasing a series of special event cruises that focus variously on wine, cycling, gourmet food and Christmas activities in Europe.

The company is offering guests who book 10 months prior to cruising savings of between $200 and $400, while those who book with five or more friends are entitled to additional savings of $400 per person on cruises of over 15 days in length. The wide ranging program for 2016 was unveiled to media and industry partners at a high tea event at Sydney’s The Langham on Friday afternoon.
