Airline slammed for publishing completely fake Drew Barrymore interview

EgyptAir has come under fire for publishing an article in the in-flight magazine which claimed to be a “genuine and far from fake” interview with actress Drew Barrymore.

However, it has now become quite clear the interview was incredibly ingenuine and entirely fake.

The piece, which opens with a critique of Barrymore’s many relationships and patchy love life began making headlines earlier this week when an EgyptAir passenger tweeted an image of the spread, calling it “umm… surreal”.

Written by Aida Takla O’Reilly, the article is fraught with grammatical and spelling errors.

It begins, “Despite being unstable in her relationships most of her life, despite the several unsuccessful marriages and despite the busy life of stardom that dominated her life for several years; the beautiful American Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore has recently decided to temporary [sic] take an unlimited vacation to play her most crucial role as a mother.”

Drew Barrymore is then quoted as saying: “The actress is quoted as saying: “I feel overwhelmed when someone tells me that I have regained my image and managed to lose that extra weight.

“However, I find this a great opportunity to encourage every woman who is overweight to work on regaining her beauty and body, especially that it is not as hard as one may think.”

It goes on: “Psychologists believe that her behaviour is only natural since she lacked the male role model in her life after her parents’ divorce when she was only 9 years.

“Ever since that time, she has been subconsciously seeking attention and care from a male figure; but unfortunately things do not always go as planned and she has not yet succeeded in any relationship for various reasons.”

Barrymore’s representatives have since sent out a statement which claimed while the interview did happen, some of the quotes were taken from a press conference held by the actress.

They said: “technically [Barrymore never] sat down with EgyptAir for an interview”.

The reps added they are now “working with the airline PR team”.
