Air New Zealand appoints new Aussie boss, as Kathryn Robertson takes on global role

Air New Zealand has hired Paul McLean to replace Kathryn Robertson as its new general manager of sales for Australia.

Robertson (pictured above) was recently promoted to lead the airline’s global sales function as group GM of sales, and Travel Weekly understands she will be moving to New Zealand in a few months’ time to continue in her new role.

McLean brings over 15 years’ aviation industry experience across Australia and Canada to Air New Zealand, including as GM for Australia and NZ at Air Canada, and as chief commercial officer at Cairns Airport.

McLean’s appointment also marks his return to Air New Zealand, having previously worked at the airline as its sales and market development manager in Canada.

Most recently, McLean co-founded start-up Air Duty Free, an e-commerce retail business making airline retail products readily available online.

Travel Weekly has contacted Air New Zealand for comment.
