Agency’s unlikely spruik from sports star

Everyone’s favourite Aussie soccer player Tim Cahill – let’s be honest the only one we’ve heard of – has given a nod to a travel company during a Socceroo match against Syria.

According to ABC News, right after scoring the game’s winning goal, Cahill gestured a ‘T’ towards cameras, supposedly spruiking the trip booker ‘Trip A Deal’.

If you’d have blinked, you would’ve missed it, as the broadcaster immediately cut to a replay of the goal, but that didn’t stop Trip A Deal from celebrating the nod via a now deleted Instagram post.

It said, “Did you catch Tim Cahill, our new brand ambassador, doing the … ‘T’ after he scored the winning goal last night? Congratulations Tim!”

In response, Cahill posted a series of emojis and tagged the company in a personal post after the match which celebrated the massive win.

“Another chapter written and plenty more to come. Amazing team performance and really proud of everyone tonight, team, staff and fans,” Cahill wrote.

Apparently, such a plug does follow FIFA code, and the move is now being investigated by the association.

Not a bad sponsor Trip A Deal, not bad at all.
