AFTA announces People’s Choice finalists

AFTA has revealed the 2017 People’s Choice: ATAS Retail Travel Agency of the year state Finalists after they scored more than 8000 consumer votes.

The People’s Choice Campaign was delivered through a dedicated consumer program in which consumers were asked to vote for their favourite ATAS retail travel agency.

The campaign was administered by International Traveller Magazine & Australian Traveller Magazine, with consumers invited to vote either online or through the magazine survey forms. AFTA created branded assets that agencies could use to promote their agency and rally consumer votes.

APT formed an integral part of the campaign as both Prize Partner, offering every consumer that voted the chance to win an 8-Day Vietnam and Cambodia Mekong River Cruise, and Gold Sponsor for the People’s Choice NTIA Award Category. The consumer winners will be advised after the NTIA event has taken place.

The travel agencies who received the most consumer votes in each state are category finalists and the winner will be will be announced at the National Travel Industry Award Gala Dinner which will be held on Saturday 22 July 2017 at the International Convention Centre, Sydney.

The 2017 People’s Choice Finalists are:

  • NSW – Chris Watson Travel Tamworth
  • ACT – Weston Cruise & Travel
  • SA/NT – Kingscote Travel
  • TAS – Home Travel Company
  • VIC – Destination HQ Beaumaris
  • WA – Bicton Travel
  • QLD – New Farm Travel

“The people have spoken via this campaign,” said AFTA Chief Executive Jayson Westbury.

“Bricks and Mortar agents remain the backbone of the Australian travel industry and this award process is just another way that AFTA drives the connection with consumers and ATAS travel agents across the country.”
