Soccer fans are flocking to Brazil for the upcoming 2014 World Cup, with HotelsCombined data revealing that the number of hotel bookings over the World Cup period has doubled compared to the same time last year.

The data also shows that costs are on the rise with the average nightly rate for accommodation increased by 45% from around $US149.6 in 2013 to $US217 in 2014.

For all those soccer enthusiasts hoping to catch a glimpse of their favourite team, HotelsCombined has taken a look at where seven of the top teams will be staying. While some accommodations are focused on preparation, others offer the players the best of Brazilian weather and beaches.

Hotels of the top teams:

England – Royal Tulip Hotel, Rio de Janeiro

Staying on the outskirts of Rio, this five-star beachside accommodation offers ocean views from all rooms and is a popular choice for jetsetters who are after a relaxing break. With a pool, sauna, hotel salon, a bar and two gourmet restaurants onsite this hotel, it has everything the English team needs for some rest and recuperation following the tournament.

Netherlands – The Caesar Park Hotel, Rio de Janeiro

With little downtime for the team they may not have the opportunity to make the most of the boat excursions and jet-ski hire available through the hotel, however the massage and restaurant facilities will be of full use to the Dutch team.

Italy – Portobello Resort, Mangaratiba

With two full size training pitches, a floodlit volleyball court and six tennis courts this 3.5 star accommodation on the outskirts of Rio will ensure that the players keep active between matches. Set on its own private beach, guests can also relax with sea views and some rooms even offering direct beach access.

South Korea – Bourbon Hotel Cataratas Convention and Spa Resort – Foz do Iguacu

Located on the borders of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, this hotel is in a more private location surrounded by lush, tropical gardens. With two swimming pools, a tennis court, spa facility, restaurant and bar available at the resort the team won’t have to venture too far. The team could also take a short trip the the grand Iguassu Falls between training sessions.

USA – Tivoli Sao Paulo, Mofarrej

Just 10 minutes from the centre of Sao Paulo, the American side has also opted for a peaceful getaway. The five-star accommodation is set in an opulent garden estate and boasts the largest presidential suite in Latin America. The team can recover at the hotel spa before enjoying the fine food at the luxury restaurant onsite.

This five star hotel provides a perfect training facility, offering an onsite football pitch for training as well as three pools, a fitness centre and tennis and beach volleyball options.
