Pity the concierge who had to keep a straight face when one guest asked for the hotel bed to be removed so their own personal bed could be moved in.

Then there's the guest couple who asked that a staff member held a video camera while they got intimate and the woman who asked for a pole to be installed in her room. In another hotel, a female guest specifically asked for a male member of staff to deliver a bottle of Coke – proceeding to answer the door completely starkers.

It's all part of a survey run by lastminute.com.au lifting the lid on Australian hotel guest habits.

“When it comes to out-there requests and situations, our Australian hotel partners have seen it all," lastminute.com.au general manager Kirsty La Bruniy said.

Guests have locked themselves out of their rooms while nude more frequently than you'd imagine.

"It’s fair to say a good dose of patience and a sense of humour are essential for working in the hotel industry,” La Bruniy added.

The anonymous survey was part of the seventh birthday celebrations for the website's Secret Hotels concept.
