Webjet names new chief executive
By admin

The search for a chief executive for Webjet has come to a close with the appointment of David Allen to the newly created role.

Allen will oversee both the Webjet and Zuji brands in Australia and New Zealand and will report to managing director John Guscic. He will relocate to Melbourne from Auckland to take up the role from June 17.

During his 30-year career, Allen has held a number of senior management and marketing roles within the travel industry including stints at Avis, Sabre Pacific and Zuji New Zealand. Most recently he has headed a consultancy firm contracting to travel and IT-related companies in Australia and New Zealand.

Guscic said Allen's appointment is reflective of the firm's expansion in the Asia Pacific region.

"It's an exciting time at Webjet and I welcome David on board to assist in the journey," he said.

"His extensive experience and knowledge of the travel industry will be critical to the propulsion of the Webjet and Zuji brands in the South Pacific region."

Meanwhile, Allen welcomed the opportunity to work with "such a trusted" brand.

"I am looking forward to working with the wider Webjet team to continue to grow the value and innovation recognised by its customers and shareholders," he said.

The news of Allen's appointment comes after last week's announcement that Hui Wan Chua has taken on responsiblity for both brands in Singapore, also reporting to Guscic.
