Travel Corporation axes Egypt tours

All Travel Corporation brands have cancelled upcoming tours to Egypt as the country remains in the grip of civil violence and unrest.

Trafalgar, Contiki, Busabout, Insight Vacations and Uniworld have all cancelled tours with clients offered refunds, alternative dates or new destinations.

All Trafalgar’s guests who were in Egypt have been transferred out of the country and have joined other tours.

“We are speaking to guests who are scheduled to depart in the next four weeks and working closely with them through their travel consultants to provide options to change their dates, to be transferred onto another Trafalgar guided holiday or alternatively to provide a full refund on their existing trip,” managing director Matt Cameron-Smith said.

Contiki and Busabout said they have cancelled tours for the next 30 days with managing director Fiona Hunt saying it will “monitor the situation for future months,”

Guests travelling in the next month or beyond are being offered the option to transfer to another tour or offered a full refund.

Insight meanwhile has offered guests due to travel up to and including August 31 the option to re-book to a later date, transfer to another destination or receive a full refund.

Egypt has traditionally been a key destination for Insight.
