Tourism Fiji on the hunt for a new CEO
By admin

Tourism Fiji is on the hunt for a new chief executive following Rick Hamilton’s decision to take up a position with a competing tourism body.

The board of directors confirmed it has “immediately removed” Hamiton from the top role, with the search for a replacement now underway.

Fijian Attorney-General and Minister for Tourism, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum applauded Hamilton’s efforts in implementing an “important phase” in Tourism Fiji’s restructure since taking on the role in January 2013.

"The board also acknowledges the role Rick played in establishing the team that coordinated the successful inaugural Fijian Tourism Expo last week, and that the organisation is now placed to fit a leader with a skill set necessary for the evolution of Tourism Fiji and its strategic plan," he said.

Hamilton’s decision is said to be because the relocation of his family to Fiji had not proved possible, and he no longer wanted to be separated from them and was instead taking up in a position in the same location.
