South Pacific island chain makes first major Aussie push
By admin

Long secluded from mainstream tourism, the Pitcairn Islands are making a play for Australian travellers in search of adventure with the appointment of a local marketing representative.

Sydney-based Tropics tourism and Marketing Services will represent the South Pacific islands in Australia, with the aim of introducing the local market to the range of experiences the destination offers.

Pitcairns Island Tourism travel coordinator Heather Menzies described the appointment as an “exciting move forward” for the organisation.

“With more Australians seeking adventure travel experiences, we are looking to introduce our unique islands to these travellers,” she said.

Meanwhile, Tropics managing director Richard Hankin highlighted the island’s role in the Bounty mutiny and “pristine” natural environment as among its drawcards.

He confirmed that industry awareness and marketing programs are currently under development.
