Singapore adds more Australian flights

Singapore adds more Australian flights
By admin

Singapore Airlines will ramp up its frequencies to Adelaide and Melbourne as it continues to expand its Australian services.

The carrier will add a fourth daily service from Melbourne from July 1 taking the route to 28 weekly flights. It will also increase Adelaide to 12 flights per week, up from 10.

The increases take the total number of Australian services operated by Singapore Airlines and subsidiary SilkAir to 121.

Regional vice president South West Pacific Subhas Menon said the addition of a fourth Melbourne service will offer the airline's Victorian customers an additional connection to destinations such as London and India and reduce connection times for visitors from Europe and Asia.

"In the last 12 months we have added 17 weekly flights to Australia and, combined with the roll-out of our alliance with Virgin Australia, our customers will be delighted with the added convenience and choice on offer," he said.

Tourism Australia managing director Andrew McEvoy welcomed the improved connectivity to Australia.

"This new service is another big vote of confidence in Australian tourism," he said. He underlined better access from the "fast growing" Asian markets and traditional markets Europe and the UK.
